Pray that I may be fearless
Richard Waialeale
Scripture
Ephesians 6:19-20 (NIV) 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Observation
Paul is asking for prayer specifically when he has to make his appeal at his trial to Caesar in Rome. He will be surrounded by Romans and Jews. It’s always a good idea to know the profile of people I’m about to engage with. In this trial, Paul must be able to communicate clearly that Christians are not a Jewish sect nor a heretical group but the body of Christ, composed of Jewish and Gentile believers.
Application
Whenever I prepare a message, I want to script out everything I have to say because I want to be clear, fearlessly, confident in what I believe, and speak without breaking English (meaning no pigeon English). I need to communicate clearly and fearlessly what God has placed on my heart. Ask people to pray for me.
Prayer
Lord thank you for Your Words that fill me with passion, that I ask for the prayers of others to help keep me in balance with You. Amen.
