Standing my ground

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Hebrews 10:32 (NLT)

32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering.

Observation

The writer is saying to me, remember when I first became a Christian (the early days), how it felt knowing that Christ was doing something special inside of me. I was so on fire for Jesus. Today, I still am unashamed to be a Christian and unashamed of my faith in Him. One of the effective ways to strengthen people against future challenges is to remind them of the courage they displayed in past ones.

Application

My affiliation with Christ means I am not ashamed to be known as a Christian. Affiliation means I’m not ashamed to be seen with this person.

I can’t walk with God unless I’m affiliated, I’m associated, I have a relationship with Jesus.

And not only do I have to have affiliation, I have to have alignment. That means I’m walking in the same direction at the same pace.

I have to be at the same pace and be headed the same direction. If I’m going to walk with God in the years ahead, I’ve got to walk at the same pace not fast, not slower than God. And I’ve got to walk in the same direction. I’m standing my ground and I’m faithful to the end.

Prayer

Lord I run to You. No one else will do. I’m proud to be a Christian and to have this relationship with Christ.

Amen.
