Lord please send me

Ken Silva

Scripture

Luke 10:1

After the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.

Observation

After Jesus had sent out the twelve apostles he appointed seventy-two "others" to go ahead of him to every town and place that he was about to go. These "others" were not a part of the inner circle of apostles but were constantly around the Lord and had heard his teaching, witnessed his miracles and believed that he was the messiah. They must have been respected and trusted by Jesus to go before him and ahare the good news. It is interesting that they were sent "two by two". The Lord knew they would face opposition, danger and disappointment, but they would have each other to lean on. They would have a spiritual brother that would help to strengthen and encourage one another.

Application

In many ways "we", all of us, are the "others" that Jesus is sending out ahead of him. Whether we are in our workplace, at home with our families, on the soccer sidelines encouraging our kids, or having a cup of coffee at Starbucks. We need to be the living example of the love and unending hope of things to come through our devotion to the father. We have thrown our hearts over the line for the one who has done so much for us. We need to share the good news with those that do not know Jesus. The only hope for salvastion is through the father. We will face obstacles, be uncomfortable, need encouragement and support. That is why we need to use the example from scripture and fellowship with Christian brothers and sisters. Get involved with life groups, do our devotions, build Godly relationships that will refresh us everyday.

Prayer

Father thank you for your son Jesus. I thank you that he gave it all so willingly for me. I thank you for the priviledge of going before you to be a living example of your unending love. Please strengthen me and encourage me so that I can be a convincing witness for you. Amen.
