Scripture

Proverbs 26:11
“Like a dog that returns to its vomit Is a fool who repeats his folly.”

Observation

Here we are reminded not to go back to our old sinful ways. Like vomit, it's not agreeable nor is it good for our bodies, that's why it's trying to get out. Why would we want to do the same thing that kept us in bondage? We have to give it up, and learn from our past, and not repeat the mistakes.

Application

Then verse 12 reads, "Do you see a wise man in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than him".
Sometimes when I think I finally got it, I really don't. When I'm confident that I will not go back to my old thoughts or old ways of doing things, I'm fooling myself. I have to always remember to be intentional, and to choose to keep my thoughts accountable to Christ and to do what is right even if it may not feel so good. God's grace and favor has released me of much sin, and bondage. I cannot and will not go back and pick up all that He has released me from.

Prayer

Thank You Lord for accountability. Thank You for keeping me in check daily, with the wisdom of Your Word.
