What are Unintentional Sins in my life?

Rod Shimabukuro

The Lord said to Moses, 2“Say to the Israelites: ‘When anyone sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands— Leviticus 4:1-2

With such graphic detail, the Lord gives instructions to Moses in this section about unintentional sins.
The instructions are separate for unintentional sins committed by: anointed priests, the Israelite community, leaders and individuals. It seems to me there were many animal sacrifices that took place - and this is just for unintentional sins!

I’m reminded of the Hebrew definition for Leviticus: And He Called. The detailed instructions given to Moses for the priests to perform involving sacrifices and offerings seem unfathomable. All of the bloodshed, grimy labor…because the Lord has called the Israelites to be His chosen children.

The hoopla of Super Bowl 50 and the anticipated Bruno Mars, Cold Play and Beyonce half time show performances seemed to be the center of America’s day! Gatherings at neighborhood sports bars and homes filled with cheers for their favorite team. Not to mention the great appetizers, meals and desserts that must have been consumed!

I had fun watching portion of the game. I don’t want to be a party pooper. But then again, for me - I mean personally just for me, I’m wondering if my heart gives centerstage to my “hobbies and interests” too much? I do feel a conviction when I’m overeating, neglecting relationships because I’m glued to “the tube.” TV tube that is.

I sense the Spirit tugging my heart to be careful, be sensitive, to be aware and to beware…of any unintentional sins. I don’t mean to commit these sins - that’s why they are called unintentional. I don’t mean to “talk about others” with gossip in mind…but I do. I don’t mean to “steal” but I justify ”figures” on my tax forms. Yikes again Lord…!

Dear Spirit of God, Thank You - Thank You for Your never ending tug on my heart. The inner desire that I feel is a holy one - to be pure, undefiled and righteous! O Lord Jesus….by Your sacrifice and love for me, I receive the fulness of Your grace. And by the fullness of Your Spirit’s work, help me to live with integrity. I love You mega tons Lord Jesus. I honor You as King in 2016, over everything in my life!
