A Good Leader

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.

Observation

A good shepherd is one that would be there for his sheep, and he would know his sheep, he would sacrifice his needs over theirs, he would be willing to suffer for them, but also would correct when one roams away.

Application

There are many leaders that can lead well, they are gifted in this role, but there are exceptions, even in this very important call. The relationship that they have with people is good, but after they are done with a project, and they are no longer needed, the relationship ends. There are leaders that will stick by you when things are going well, but the moment you are not doing as well, and you voice out a problem that you have, they abandon you. Then there are those that leave you completely alone, so that you can, "hear from God", and resolve it on your own. Then finally there are the leaders that minister, walk you through your situation and really try to help you resolve. They don't make you feel that you are all alone, and you have to fend for yourself. They pray with you and minister God's truth so that you can allow the Spirit of God to guide and counsel you. I want to be a good leader, and I have failed in the above examples, not intentionally, but none the less, I have not been the shepherd that I believe, God wants me to be.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for ministering to me, for being the Good Shepherd that you are. For allowing me to hear your voice as you examine me as a leader.
