God's Amazing Grace

Ken Silva

Scripture

Deuteronomy 2: 7The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.

Observation

Moses spoke to the Israelites and recounted the journey they had been on for nearly forty years. He spoke of their trials, their hardship and all that God had done to them because of their sin. He also spoke of the provision and bounty that the Lord had provided for His people. There was a reason that a generation needed to pass on before the Israelites would be allowed to enter the promised land. They needed to be humbled, they needed to be taught to trust in the Lord their God, they needed to turn away from their grumbling and believe in the promises of the Lord.

Application

I recently had a birthday. I make it a point to find some quiet time to reflect on the past year and pray for the Lord’s direction in the upcoming year. It never fails to amaze me how God loves me, encourages me, guides me and “slaps” me when it’s necessary. When I drift he welcomes me back. When I am down trodden he lifts me up. When I have victories he celebrates with me. I may not have all the things I “want”, but the Lord has provided everything I need and much more than I deserve.

Prayer

Dear Lord I come to you humbled by your grace. I come in a spirit of thanksgiving for being such an awesome God. Help me to share the love I’ve come to know through you with others. Amen.
