So Smart, Lacking Spiritual Sense

John Tilton

Matthew 11:25-26

At that time Jesus said,“I praise you, Father,Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

Jesus points out that sometimes the learned have the head knowledge, but lack the heart and innocence of a child that allows them to hear and understand God’s will and way.

I know that I have defaulted at times to what my mind says rather than what my heart says, and once I speak or take action, it’s too late to rewind the tape and redo the matter or situation. It’s often a decision or response made in haste. It just happened to me this morning where I acted in way that my mind impulsively told me how to handle a homeless person, which I wish I could have responded a little different.I feel that I responded in authority and protection, rather than a minister, with intention for the same outcome.Lesson learned.

Dear Lord, please guide me to better respond as led by the Holy Spirit to unique situations that I may instead impulsively react to.May I take a moment to stop, breath, think, and hear from you.
